Les Athlètes du Vin “Gardein de Bulles”
Region: Loire Valley, France
Grapes: 100% Chenin Blanc
With springtime comes blooming blossoms and buttercups – all we’re missing are bubbles! That’s where this brut nature Gardein de Bulles comes in. This sparkling wine is a grown-up wine, made only from chenin blanc grapes coming from vines that are over fifty years of age, planted over Turonian limestone. A secondary fermentation of this wine takes place in the bottle, giving it that sparkle. The wine is aged 24 months on lees (sur lie, as they say in the Loire Valley) to bring greater depth to the wine.
This fizzy wine has notes of citrus and green apple and is ultra refreshing, which makes the perfect libation for your spring equinox celebration. We recommend enjoying this with a basket of fries and a few good friends, but maybe not too many. This wine is so good that we’re sure you’ll want to pour yourself another glass.
Les Athlètes du Vin Chenin Blanc
Region: Loire Valley, France
Grapes: 100% Chenin Blanc
We just can’t get enough of that Chenin this month. But while Gardein de Bulles is of the fizzy variety, this is more of your classic natural Chenin blanc. These grapes come from 35-year-old vines grown on sandy clay. This wine is also fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks.
With notes of peach, pear, and citrus, and an acid-driven finish, this wine is well-balanced, easy to drink, and incredibly fresh. We guarantee that it will be a hit at your family’s Easter brunch. Or pair it with fish tacos at the pool. Sure, the water may still be freezing, but everyone knows pool season officially begins once it hits 80 degrees.
